Your 6:00 AM alarm sounds, and instead of shooting out of bed and getting ready for your morning workout routine, something else takes over your body and mind. You start to enter the workout spin zone–those 60 seconds where you look over at your gym bag and start to justify why you don’t need to go to the gym today. Then you’re left wondering where did all of your motivation go from the night before?

Right now, it’s currently recommended that Americans do at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week (which is about 20 minutes a day), but in all reality, about half of American adults are surely falling short on this goal.

Some like to start with inspirational quotes to rekindle their fitness commitment, while others get into the fitness groove with music. But there are other proven methods to help get you pumped up in the first place.

Turn your workout routine into a habit with these tips and tricks on how to workout and keep your mind in the right mindset.

Tips and Tricks To Working Out

  1. Friendly Competition Can Light The Fire

When working out, being competitive can be a good thing to help push you to work harder. For example, if someone is on a treadmill next to you then people will normally try to keep up with them or try to look competitive which competition has some major boosting power.

Whether your competitive or not, we suggest finding an individual or group that is slightly better or faster than you. This can be helpful in terms of either a little bit of competition or just in terms of what we call a conjunctive task. Having someone there working out with you will help push you to do much more then if you were alone.

  1. Stop Making Exercise About How You Look

Instead of constantly focusing on bigger, more noticeable goals (six-pack abs, calf muscles, etc.) try setting micro-goals that will help you celebrate small achievements along the way, like losing 3 pounds in a week, doing a full push-up without your knees for the first time, or running one mile without stopping.

STOP. LOOKING. AT. THE. SCALE. Sometimes not always concentrating on what the scale says can help you mentally and physically. Muscle is denser than fat tissue. Put simply, a pound of fat can take up more space in your body then a pound of muscles does. So, if you start eating healthily and exercising regularly, you could look slimmer, but weigh the same as muscle starts to replace the fat tissue.

  1. Utilize Social Media To Boost Your Fitness

That’s right, you heard me correctly. Social media can be extremely overwhelming at times. Social Media is a great lever to get some fitness motivation and there are social platforms that can help you lose weight. Social media can also help you be more accountable for your weight loss or work out routine to your friends or family socially. Posting stats socially can help with keeping you accountable for your goals as well as your friends pushing you to keep it up.

By using social media you can hold yourself accountable and help you stay on track and support one another. The biggest thing is to be thoughtful about your goals and who you have as a guiding force and motivation. As we all know your friends will be excited for you have you start doing good on your workout.

  1. Find A Friend Who Will Push You

Many people prefer to do solo workouts, but for those who need a little bit of a push in the motivation department, scheduling regular workouts with a friend or group of friends can make all the difference in how you workout. You’ll be less likely to hit that snooze button in the morning if you know you’re leaving your workout partner in the lurch.

Having a friend who will push you to strive and get excited about your fitness journey is a great way to keep up with your goals and create a fun time while working out.

  1. Having Shorter Workouts

Most workouts online go for 30-45 minutes. When all you really need is 10 or 15 minutes of intense exercise, like high-intensity interval Training (HIIT), to get fitter than you ever thought possible.

HIIT workouts can take away all your excuses that you don’t have time to workout.  HIIT is a form of interval training, a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods, until too exhausted to continue.

HIIT is a great solution for anyone who’s ever avoided the gym just because they didn’t have an hour to workout.

  1. Make Your Workout A Ritual

If you are wanting to make your workout routine stick then setting up a ritual of working out will help tremendously. For example, if you decided you wanted to make it a habit to workout in the morning five days a week, you can create a ritual that includes getting up, making breakfast, performing a HIIT workout, making a protein shake, and going to work after.

The same thing applies if you are wanting to create an afternoon or an evening workout habit: just build it into a ritual, and then your workouts will become less difficult to accomplish.

  1. Make A Bet On Exercise

Who doesn’t want double the benefits when working out? So if health benefits of exercise aren’t enough to rouse you out of bed at dawn, but if part of your paycheck is on the line, there’s no way you’re going to miss that workout, right?

HealthyWage is a great way to get paid while losing weight. HealthyWage uses cash-based challenges designed to help end procrastination, encourage perseverance, and harness the power of your desire to avoid losing your wager. One of the great things about HealthyWage is you can create your own goals on how much you would like to lose.

  1. Commit To A 30 Day Workout

When committing to 30 days of working out you are creating a lifelong exercise habit that will help you train your body to accept this workout routine.

All you have to do is pick a number of days you want to work out, then tell yourself you’ll stick to that for an entire month, this is giving yourself permission that if you don’t like it at the end of the month, you don’t have to continue.

Most people at the end of the 30 days notice that they feel stronger, more energized, their clothes fit better, and you won’t want to stop working out.

My Workout Supplements
